The Devil was seen sobbing on a street corner recently and a by passer approached him to ask ‘ what was wrong ? ‘ , whereupon the Devil blurted ‘ they’re blaming me for everything ‘. In much the same way it seems these days we are blaming China for everything. The Heads of the UK Armed Services gathered in the Tower London this week to assess amongst other things the growing assertiveness of China.
The reality is that every dog has its day and now it’s China’s turn to get off the leash. The Empires Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Britain have all had their day off lead and now it’s China. America currently hold the keys to all of course but China are on their heels. The fact is we all need each other and top dogs never live forever. To try mimic anything as China now does America must be the maximum form of flattery indeed that’s what they’re doing. It seems meantime that Britain will have to shrink its Army from 80,000 to 60,000 just to afford to keep up with the race to protect ourselves but if you can fit those in uniform into the Emirates stadium in North London I don’t have much hope for our ability to defend other than a few penalties.
We are told the real war is now cyber which is why we allowed Huawei in to our Communications networks. We try not to offend China which is why we sold them opium when we had an Empire. The reality is they are here and if you like it’s their turn. What’s happening in Hong Kong should be no surprise to us here, the ones that filled the slave ships and thankfully came to our moral senses. Wrong has been done across the world and ultimately wrong will get punished which is really why the Devil is on that street corner sobbing.
America needs to secure its further phases of their Trade Agreements and China needs their help to buy their produce. No single nation has ever taken over the world, ask Adolph as one example or Uncle Joe. The reality is that as I say every dog has its day and we as humans are interdependent.Power taken is never power that lasts and ultimately the power will lie with the masses who give it. Momentarily in history there will be bumps on the road, happening hiccups but nothing ever stays the same. Evil has been defeated.
The saying ‘ every dog has its day ‘ is out of Shakespeares Hamlet circa 1600 although one ex Colonel friend British Army always tells me that and as each day passes he and William are right. China, we wish them well but the best way to protect the peace is to embrace them and in due season leave the rest to history. Meantime it’s unlikely that the 3 million who qualify to come to Britain from Hong Kong post clamp down on law though I reckon 300,000 might, just in time to save the falling housing market post Brexit 2022 and Covid 2019. The real enemy is the faltering economy and no nation even China can defeat the enemies of decline and recession. This blog could have been entitled that ‘ water finds its own level ‘ , indeed just like everything it does. The Tower of London with its moat and walls once protected our city of London but it won’t do today neither will the discussions going on there last week. We need to bolster defences not to go to war but to provide jobs and keep those economic wheels turning. Let’s get on with it and keep going, feed the dogs and look out for the new ones to come.
