Dying to Meet you.

To read that the Headline ‘ Storm hero Pilot becomes Ilkeston Funeral Director ‘ captured me today. The Pilot had as a Monarch Airline Pilot performed heroics in landing a plane full of passengers in a storm at Birmingham Airport in 2017. Covid 19 brought an end to his Aviation career. Now the 39 year old has opened a Funeral Directors in Derbyshire.

Don’t you just love the flexibility of others and the get up and go personality types. Now some might say that the high flyer has gone underground with his noteriety but one could be convinced that he’s been dying to do this for a long time.

Clearly as soon as the situation became grave the talented young man donned his top hat with his and hearse car to create his own answer to death in the Derbyshire dales. I once was a grave digger when I first left school and quickly found that with a lot of people under me I wanted the power that only the City could bring. I too became a high flyer and began to Pilot my own ship with all its consequences.

Rod Stewart was another famous Grave digger made good and his fame as an International singer with songs like Maggie Mae and Sailing were the best. There’s a great deal of money in Funeral Direction and I’m going to write a letter of congratulation to Mr Barron today for his initiative. I was once offered to invest in a Funeral business in Stoke upon Trent but I never really could face the job and all it entailed. Someone has to do the job of course and top hats off to Mr Barron.

From the runway at Birmingham to the runway to heaven ( or that other place ). His new announcement for take off will not be heard I’m afraid by the passenger. Imagine ‘ Good morning Sir / Madam welcome on board your final flight, destination not known, please buckle up for the ride and place any luggage outside the box. May I remind you that there is no longer any smoking and today we will be travelling very slowly and will not be serving any refreshments ever again. Now lie back and enjoy the trip ‘.

Well done Mr Barron you brought many people safely back to earth in 2017 now you’re helping them leave. There’s nothing quite like the to and fro of life and death, that coming in , that going out and the bit in the middle is yours. Dionne Warwick famously sung ‘ What’s it all about Alfie ‘ the theme song to the Michael Caine movie Alfie which I loved as much as Michael Caine whom I met at Dinner once in London at my friends Stag night dinner ( fish and chips served in the FT newspaper with Albert Roux at Gavroche a long time ago. ) ‘ Not many people know that ‘

‘ Dying to meet you at long last ‘ was what he said to me and of course Michael went on to make Zulu, Ipcress, Batman and the Italian job in a distinguished career. I’m dying to meet Mr Barron though I’ll write in the first instance and try keep well away from that Derbyshire town for a bit longer.
