Recent Statistics state that globally 57m people die per annum and 130m people are born. More people on a net basis are entering the world than leaving it. By 2100 ( don’t worry most of us reading this will be gone by then ) the global population will be 11 billion people.
Ok these figures are meaningless to you make no impact on your life but if you want to get your significance into proportion it’s worth thinking about for 10 minutes. To date just under 900,000 have died from COVID-19 not nearly as many that die annually from Malaria yet someone ( people like Ferguson from Imperial College ) shut down life as we knew it and helped cull hundreds of thousands of jobs.
AIDS has killed over 32m to date but unprotected sex still happens and 1.35m are killed on the roads every year but these have not be shut down. Why then the overreact. There can be only one answer FEAR. Yes if we hadn’t donned the masks and kept away from crowds it could have been worse but the bigger more deadlier picture was not seen.
The bottom line is that we have entered a new territory where increasing population or transmitters are going to cause greater viral deaths and the contagion is people. More demand on the planet more demand on its resources and for the economist looking from growth just think of the additional 4 billion entering the planet or nigh on 60% en route this century.
I’m not worried one bit because I know the Creator planned everything and everything is under control though we are the stewards of the control and through us He is looking for good stewardship. It’s clear that the technology , pharmacy and brains are coming through to deal with the future and as the original planning was never eternal life on Earth we have to all leave by one of the Exit doors available.
Therefore far from FEAR we should begin to MARVEL and be grateful then embrace the life and work out our role in the stewardship plan. That’s the really exciting part. One American Scientist reckons that at 11 billion the Earth can’t sustain more people but I’m not convinced as equally as I’m not convinced we will make the end of this century if we continue behaving the way we do and if we don’t change so many of our ways. Covid 19 is certainly changing some of them and I reckon there’s more natural phenomena to change more. We are living in very exciting times.
