Haemorrhage London

It is no secret the Government are killing London. The big question is why. Covid 19 is one reason but the life support system is being switched of by an 80 majority Government. London is haemorrhaging.

TFL ( Transport for London ) that controls the underground, bus networks , would be Crossrail, Dockland Light Railway and Black cabs will run out of money in 14 days. Despite packed trains and millions of rides TFL were always short of money. Mayor Kahn did what politicians do and three years back froze fares to get voted in. He sacrificed at the altar of common sense to get power.

Then add to that Covid 19, zero tourists and 20% of workforce entering daily the results worsen. The emergency £1.6b reserve has been spent, gone forever down a drain near you.

Then take away the cars not by demand but by trying to squeeze them and the lorries and white vans to make way for the cyclists. Two hours to reach 4 miles to the west last Thursday leaving at 4pm whilst some who left the office a 6pm took 4 hours. London is being ground to a halt and today two six inch nails are about to be driven into the waiting coffin. In the FT today the congestion zone ( which if you enter costs £12.50 ) is not just being increased but being extended to include the north and south circular roads.

Like a three year old tube of tooth paste London is being squeezed into single file lanes and rolled up the tube and all. The Black cab drivers have no business and can’t meet their operational costs. Meantime the Government are ‘ pressing ahead ‘ with HS2, which is costing now this week an extra £800m. All to reach Birmingham from London 13 minutes faster.

This blog is sent to Dominic Cummings who according to media reports is running the madhouse. Boris who introduced the bike and congestion charge is a poor as Mayor Kahn who leaves office soon with a new title Mayor Kahnt. His father was a bus driver and he’s even ruined that job.

The Motorways into town have been slowed to 50mph and the snail pace is for a new Digital Motorway. Is there something I’m missing, is the entire transport system being smoked out so that we have to walk everywhere to help reduce obesity levels. Someone please tell me. I know Macdonald drive ins are bad for me but I just need to know, what’s the plan. It’s no longer leaves on the line that’s slowing us up but leave us out of London policy that is. Are we preparing for AI transport systems , battery and electric vehicles. Is this a new age. Why have we been taken back 120 years to horse and cart speeds where the proverbial is no longer lying in the road but being dumped by this Government in our laps.

Are we the guinea pig generation that will test the vaccines of the new works then fine just tell us and we can adapt but please don’t leave us stranded in a traffic jam. The money is running out at the same rate as common sense has left us.

I had a plan to solve the crisis three years ago but no one would listen. I could have solved the TFL by buying out the network with patient capital but no one would listen. No one will listen end October as we stick Elastoplast on the haemorrhage and one morning we will awake the stations shut, the buses stuck without fuel and the cab drivers cremated. Crossrail will become Drossrail.

My London that we all love is in intensive care and no one seems to care except those that love it and have to watch through the glass the patient die, flatline to replace Central line, the pulse slowing and the heart fading from city centre to free every lane for all the bikers who then have no job to go to. Boris, Dominic and Rishi, is that the plan ?
