The Psalm of David 91 is my favourite and is a must read at this time of great uncertainty. It’s opening ‘ Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.’ is an immediate assurance. It’s passage speaks of protection in your life and His instructions for safety from pandemic and any other attack upon you.
World War 1 soldiers of the 91st Brigade of the American Military agreed to recite the 91st Psalm daily. The 91st Brigade was engaged in three of the bloodiest battles of WW1 ; Chateau Thierry, Belle Wood, and the Argonne. While other units similarly engaged had up to 90% casulaties; The 91st Brigade Did Not Suffer A Single Combat Related Casualty.
This Airborne Regiment based in Mineral Waters Texas have invited me to visit and share with them, it is a journey on my bucket list and the Mineral Waters are renowned for their healing qualities.
The 4th verse of Psalm 91 for me separates the human from the Divine. Normally in this symbiotic world one good turn deserves another or you ‘ scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours ‘ Relationship based upon exchange. Not with God ‘ His faithfulness ( not yours ) will be your ‘ shield and rampart ‘ Wow His faithfulness not yours will protect you from the ‘ arrows that fly by day ‘ , you. Know those niggles and annoyances that daily come your way. Protection from ‘ the plague that comes at midday ‘ , you know like Covid 19.
Anyway read Psalm 91 today, recite it daily like the Military and see what happens. In World War 2 on a battle destroyer and inferno broke out in the boiler room. One of the seamen was locked in and on opening they expected to see his burned body. The man miraculously was alive. When later they asked what happened he told them that his daily recital of Psalm 91 protected him, just like the three characters in the furnace of bible told in the third chapter of Daniel.
‘ Under His wing you will find refuge ‘ , don’t you like that, a protector in your life there for the calling. Try it.
