Don’t break with China

The Chinese Chamber of Commerce in UK warn today of the consequences of not allowing the Chinese to enter Britain to trade , aka Huawei etc.

China can be a great trading partner and we should embrace them and welcome their investment alongside the many nations that wish to invest in Brexit Britain. We do not need to see the colour of the money but make decisions based upon the quality of the offering. By all accounts Huawei being quality, they bring employment and if their cyber offerings are best then let’s go for it.

Yes we know China would not allow our infiltration of communication system but I don’t know if we have a British company that could do that anyway. Yes there are human rights issues that can be criticised but our own track record of Human Rights going back to slave trade and opium trading or East India excursions are not critique free.

In any event in partnership with the Chinese we can create the best for our nation. We can work together for good and if they the Chinese see merit in owning vast chunks of our assets our buildings then they will want to protect their investment not see it crash and crumble.

At one period in history we partnered with other nations, then fell out then fell back together again, Germany but one example. Don’t forget we also invest in China and the writer did and successfully so. The bastions of education of Oxbridge will suffer if the Chinese don’t come , don’t send their students. Why do they send them there one may ask ? Well China also will pursue the best and that’s what China want, they want to be the best. Is that a bad ambition ? I don’t think so.

So, let’s not break the China, let them in and improve our nation as we all prosper. I know a Chinese proverb that in a hot room you can open the window, yes the flies may then come in but there will always be give and take good and bad, pros and cons but in the end together is better policy than angst apart.
