Centurion

In the 8th chapter of the gospel of Matthew we hear of a Centurion who approaches Jesus in the village of Capernum . We don’t know his name but we can imagine a warrior, a leader of 100 men who leads and is a man of authority. The Centurion sees that hallmark of authority in Jesus and with boldness approaches Him with a request to heal his servant who has palsy, a facial paralysis.

Jesus is willing and He is able then offers to come to the Centurion’s home and see his servant. The Centurion tells Jesus that He doesn’t need to come to ‘ only say the word and his servant will be healed ‘ . Jesus is taken back by the faith of this warrior leader and tells him to go home and that his servant is healed in that same hour.

What is it that you need today, is it healing for someone you know ? , is it a problem you just can’t solve ? , is it something that you alone can’t deliver ? How’s your faith ? Where are you going ? All these questions have an answer and that leader Centurion is telling us where to go and look to the one who has the authority to sort it out. The Centurion asked for something for another and there are people out there today that are asking Jesus to help you. People of faith and people who know where to go and get that problem sorted out for you.

My good friend and his partner told me this week that they had been to Jesus to help me sort it out and off the back of that I know it’s been sorted. I’ve been to Capernum where Jesus walked and I may have traced both their footsteps. Next to the lake of Galilee it’s mainly ruins today but 2000 years ago it was a busy place, a town centre. Meantime Jesus never changed, He’s there and still here today ready to help you and me. All you need is faith. Remember ask Him to ‘ only say the word ‘

Try it today and see what happens next. In that same hour you ask. imagine the look on the servant’s face when his boss returns and sees the smile on his face, on both their faces as faith moved in and paralysis disappeared.

Don’t stay paralysed in your situation or let your friend remain in the same condition. Do something now, go to Him and ask Jesus to ‘ only say the word ‘, job done, solution found and move on. Try it.
