We are always told in life to have Plan B ready in case the preferred choice of Plan A fails. Makes some sense but more often than not Plan B will fail under the same authorship of Plan A.
The decision to hold a Public Enquiry into Covid 19 and the handling thereof is a bad one that will cost hundreds of millions to complete. I can tell you now it will tell us little more than we know today. Yes the Government were slow to act, we were under equipped and the NHS were not ready. Tell me who could have been prepared fully for this global plague ? What Plan B would have stood muster ? Not only will the enquiry cost hundreds of millions we will end up at best with snivelling apologies from human beings very sorry for their human shortcomings. Far better we have a timeline review to list the bullet points and reports back by the end of the summer 2021. Then spend the money at least trying to prepare for the next stranger virus to inevitably appear.
The Public Enquiry is scheduled to start in May 2022 at best and will take three years just in time to miss the scheduled 2nd May 2024 General Election. Just in time to avoid blame politics game. Meantime we will be exposed to hearing about it and it will drone on just like Brexit. Our lives are being stolen again when we could focus on the future planning a brighter time not trolling through dross. Yes it’s jobs for some but it’s a real waste.
The real plague of humanity is looking for a scapegoat in everything and in the politics of rule. We are only human after all and flawed yet we can iron out the wrinkles by following the Boy Scouts and being prepared. The worst will visit and no Plan B, C or D will ever match the variant variables vectored towards mankind.
The Public Enquiry will be Chaired by a Judge, run by lawyers to authenticate it best which way. Let’s save time and money pronounce now and list the bullet points, agree with those and prepare for the next unknown, unseen and unexpected ugly in our lives to come. We may just wake up to realise we don’t need any more Plan Bs or Cs but a new blueprint for life on the planet. I don’t recall there being Planet B.
