One week ago the Jewish people celebrated their Shavuot, the feast of weeks to commemorate the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai to Moses. When Solomon built his temple to house God there were 120 priests assigned to run the place. They were all Jews of course.
One thousand years later 120 Jews again appeared in an Upper Room again in Jerusalem to wait upon God. Then 40 days after His ascension He sends as promised His Holy Spirit at Pentecost to dwell no longer in the stones of the Temple but in mankind’s body the temple is new and rebuilt. However from Sinai, Judaism was founded and from the upper room Christianity was founded as Gentiles were included with Jews in the Messianic plan. Alas not all the Jews believed and it was from there that God’s way took a different turn. Notwithstanding the fact that the Jewish Rabbi Jesus told us all , He couldn’t carry all the crowd.
Then around 500 years later and again from the seed of Abraham another fork in the road from Jerusalem appeared as Islam was birthed. Though all roads lead to Rome it is seen all roads lead from Jerusalem, all in pursuit of God and His spirit, ruach, pneuma, breath.
In the week between Shavuot and Pentecost this day , as Islamic Ramadan ended we saw once again Jerusalem at the centre of world focus. Battle raged again and we saw lives lost , homes destroyed and families ruined. Hell not Harmony reigned, the dark enemy of man managed to enter man’s arena once again to do what he does best kill and destroy.
Why does man not see that and why does man fail time after time to bring in the Prince of Peace, the comforter Holy Spirit to reign, to seek an everlasting peace. Surely with all the feasts and fasting going on mankind still misses the point or is it simply here to stay and the blind will remain blind. No matter what accords or agreements are made in Camp David or in David’s Royal City we are it seemed destined to be on course of Armageddon just north of Jerusalem in the Jezreel Valley or otherwise Megiddo Valley for that final battle.
Only God knows, yet , He leaves the choice to man. That’s how patient and merciful He really is, sitting waiting for stupid greedy man to see, to wake up and see the wiles of the enemy that operates through man despite all these hallmark events and celebrations.
