Out there or In here.

In the southern sky last night at 3am I saw a very bright star in the night sky. It was either Mars or Venus, doesn’t really matter but the fact is it’s out there. Today four people at an average age of 52.5 years are going out there for four minutes to look back on this splendid thing called earth. For anyone on Mars or Venus I’m sure looking out we are a similar speck of light. 52 years ago today three men average age 38.5 years went to land on the Moon, something also out there.

Those going out there on average years are now getting older and in the case today a young 18 year old boy, the youngest ever is going out there alongside a Funky 82 year old woman who for 60 years has being longing to go out there. The fact is as they all look back from out there don’t they wonder who created all this ? During lockdown I was told to shed weight, no not for an upcoming trip out there but for good health. In the last year I’ve been walking three miles a day, ok only a 1000 miles a year but every little helps. I watched along my walk wheat fields grow readying for harvest and marvelled how it all grew to equal height. Even the Bible scriptures rhetorically ask the question. As I look up on his hot day and see the sun 90 million miles away ( who put that there ) or the full moon that controls the earthly tides ( how’s that done ) I marvel.

Charles Duke was a man I once befriended. Charles was the youngest person to walk the moon and the first to drive a car. Charles became a believer when he recalled seeing the earth hanging like a spherical object and the heavens encircling the earth as told in the books of Job and Isaiah. That he saw out of his cockpit window and became convinced of God our creator. I asked Charlie if when he looked down on earth from the moon if he could see the Great Wall of China ? Charlie replied dryly ‘ no I couldn’t the only thing I saw looking down was my boots, earth was immediately above me. Now I still 25 years on can’t work that out.

The fact is none of creation is an accident it’s at best an accident of a Creator but how can an accident explain the precision with which each piece is set and how can we therefore ignore what’s in the owners manual. Whatever we are looking for out there it might pay to look inside each one of us to search our hearts and minds to see what

Is required of us and why we are here. Not all of us can go out there but many of the answers are in here and we are told that the Creator is but a single breath away. Take your trip in here today and ask God the Creator for the mission plan for your life. You’ll then begin to see many interesting things and you won’t need to ever look back. Why go out there when it’s in here.
