These wonderful words of assurance from the fifth verse of Psalm 30 are music to any ear. Especially so at a time of great loss around us not so much from pandemic but hearing of parallel passing of our friends, colleagues and contemporaries. Tonight I was invited to attend another Memorial Service via Stream that great technological river that has flowed into all our lives.
Though most of us can count our true friends on one hand we all have a network of people in our lives. A recent study calculated that at most we can handle up to 150 persons. Friendship takes time , the time to stay in touch to manage without offence. Networks are less intense passing like ships in the night. Our immediate family is our responsibility and in that function one will be stretched just keeping up with the task.
There are people of course that will impact your lives more than others and often it is those around you at the time of passing that hold significance. One lady we met only a year ago and with whom we had a single lunch has a photograph taken that day on the front of her Memorial Service Book ( it was we are told her most favourite photo ).
Of course those that pass have simply gone on ahead and though we weep joy will come in the morning when we all meet again. We are living in that great interchange where people are coming and going catching trains to a new destination and to see life like that is a great help for we are all on a journey, we will all catch that train at some point. As we stand on the platform and wave goodbye , tears will come but joy will come in the morning.
Meantime look today to see if you can help someone. It may be only a word of encouragement or a tissue to wipe away the tears for in doing so joy will come in your morning.
