As one gets older one’s pride reduces as you finally admit to knowing nothing. No longer embarrassed to ask the unknown obvious one is released and learns so much it becomes a joy. I have always understood that the Sun warms us so that things can grow and that the Moon controls the tides. I have never known what the purpose of this other planets are like Jupiter and Mars , more importantly why we are trying to go there. I decided to ask my good friend ( that’s right someone with a brain ) whose grandson just happens to be an Astro Physicist ( thank God for spell check ). Granted my friend had to ask his grandson but the answer after several weeks came back today. Absolutely nothing.
So I ask why the trip why are we even going there into Space ? I know that glib answer ‘ because it’s there ‘ but is there a solution to a problem that is looking large now called Global Warming. The Sun is 93 million miles away from us with a surface temperature of 6300 degrees centigrade. It is 109 times greater in diameter than the earth and one million earths can fit in the sun. It’s gravitational pull is so great nothing else out there affects us.
Perfectly placed by God the creator surely that same God has the blueprint for dealing with Global Warming . If we are going all Electric or hydrogen in transportation how much energy will we use in replacing the fossil fuels and creating these new forms. The answer is with God whose plan is faultless. The right person will be sent at the right time as has always happened. Just think Noah turned up before the flood, Fleming for antibiotic, Jobs for Apple, Einstein for relativity , you get my drift. All we need do is what we are called to do and wait.
Waiting as we all know is one of the hardest things to do but impatience makes mistakes and short term problem solving never works in the longer term. Later this year in November the good and the great gather in Glasgow for the United Nations Climate Change Conference. The biggest so called culprits like China will not be there and therefore it’s not going to be a Global response. Nonetheless I understand the concern but perhaps it time to wake up and admit that no one has the answer to the problem, drop the pride and let’s all admit it. How about if that week in November we all pray that God sends the right person/ people with the right solution just like He has done since Creation. The Bible tells us and gives us the formula when in 2 Chronicles 7 v 14 it says :
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
That’s right ‘ heal our land ‘ Now that’s a mission worth planning and as I’ve said before why look out there when the answer is in here. The Mission to launch is prayer and that’s the answer. Then and only then will we be shown the right answer by the right person at the right time. We are not here by accident and we will not leave by accident for He has the plan and we should ask Him to steer and guide us in it all, including climate change.
