Totally Confueled

Road Transport in the UK consumes circa 36 million tons of fuel per annum. That amounts to just over one trillion gallons of the stuff or in CO2 emissions over 10 trillion kilograms. Whichever way you look at it the numbers are big. Getting around, movement of goods and people is big , perhaps the biggest thing in all our lives. Movement is critical to our very being which is why we are now in trouble.

Forget for the moment the queues at Garages to even get the stuff, forget that we were all restricted from movement for nearly 2 years, forget that delivery is the new High Street to your door , forget travelling without torment, we are all stuck. Forget those that are stuck to the roads because of Carbon emissions, forget that the Army are not at war but soon truck driving and forget that Brexit was designed to give us freedom. We are as a nation well and truly stuck and most people don’t have a glue why.

The Government tell us that we don’t have enough HGV drivers but stats from the Government show that 87% of the drivers have for the past 7 years been from the UK. So what’s happened ? Suddenly out of the blue of oncoming winter this happens. It seems to in fact happen every 20 years. Have we enough fuel ? Yes there has been an oversupply in fact little was used two years previously . Is it really a delivery issue ? Or a mechanism for the Oil Companies to claw back lost income with a thoroughly good price hike and with panic buying from a surge in demand.

Imagine those in the queues with their engines on burning the stuff they are trying to fill. Imagine the queues that choke up the traffic , slow life down to standstill. Imagine looking at all this madness from another planet. It will all end of course soon as someone finds the pump of sanity to fill up those brains with common sense a commodity which is in fact uncommon.

Don’t forget that fuel delivery trucks need fuel and without both we just added fuel to a fire. If you are totally confueled sorry confused then join the club , sorry queue. We British love a queue of course, we are known for it. We also know what inflation is and that’s what is really happening because let me tell you we are about to start paying for what’s been taken out of the economy during COVID because about 67% of the fuel price is for UK tax. That’s right your in the queue to pay tax and unless you do then you’re not going far. Brexit needs to be paid for and more worrying than climate change is how are the Government going to collect the tax if we become those battery chickens or Tesla Turkeys ? Now you’re Confueled.
