Scientists in the main say that Planet Earth was created around 4 billion years ago. Believers will say around 6,000 years ago from Genesis. Scientists in the main claim creation was effectively a Big Bang accident, whilst Genesis speaking of the Creator God laying it all out in 6 days and resting on the 7th day. The Bible scripture tells us a day is like a thousand years. Scientists have discovered human remains some 40,000 years old and Lucy a fossil skeleton is apparently over 3 million years old. The fact is the dates vary with opinion and belief.
Fossil fuels including oil and coal have been used for circa 3000 years and Creation placed these in the Earth. I don’t think that this was an accident. According to Scientific view and visualising a 24 hour clock as creation time we have managed to ruin the Earth in under a minute by digging, drilling, mining and using the stuff. According to Genesis we have managed to ruin the Earth by tea time. If Climate Change is going to lead to our destruction of Earth then it’s time we woke up. God the Creator also gave us the Wind and the Sea and we have begun to use the power of both gifts to power up. I can’t help thinking though that God gave us something else to power up with and that’s yet to be discovered. God did give us a clue when we were all given a brain.
My old friend, Astronaut Charlie Duke became a believer on his way back from the moon when he saw Earth from his space capsule. Charlie on reading the scripture in Isaiah 40 v 22 spoke of God encircling the round Earth and in Job 26 v 7 when it tells us that God hung or suspended the Earth on nothing. Now for those that don’t believe in God then just rely on all this being a neat accident and that day in day out the Sun rises like in the above and we return to dark a few hours later, every day.
God has the blueprint and God has the plan. We are called as humans to be good stewards of our resources and that we must. As the leaders of the Globe ( or at least some of them ) head towards Glasgow next month it may be worth mentioning as we listen to all those Scientists for them to stop and pray for direction and steer to try find out the answer to some of the quandaries , a solution to the issue. Imagine the World leaders on their knees and off their phones and platforms . One of them may get given a great idea and it could be a Eureka Earth moment. Let’s pray for change for a change and not try to work it all out ourselves. Try it.
