The Unexpected.

Tomorrow marks the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on a colt. The thronging crowds laid palms before him expecting the deliverer from Roman Rule. Events during that week ahead were wholly unexpected. The same crowd that cheered, a few days later jeered. The man on the colt became at their hands the man on a cross. Mankind showed up again in its often true colour as the hero goes to zero.

Oscar Wilde famously told us to expect the unexpected and we see this in our own life experience when our own plans get altered with different outcome. This disappointment can throw us but wise old Oscar warns us to expect that. Friends or family that we thought we could rely on let us down yet someone unexpected comes along to save.

We see those that rise to fame and fortune in Society are often brought down. From Political leaders to Sports stars across every spectrum of life the unexpected raises itself. Little did we expect at the start of 2022 that the deliberate slaughter in the east would follow the the sought protection of lives during the virus called Covid. Mankind in fact teaches us to expect the expected as it continually lets us down by man’s inherent flaws.

Yet we can remain hopeful and the blogger remains expectant that out of bad comes good and what was meant for evil will be turned around for good. We are living in very uncertain times and it’s worth sketching out scenarios of outcome in any of your decisions especially as we need to be alert and prepared for consequences . The palm tree bends in all storms but man does not have that flexibility and we need be careful. The unexpected can of course be superb and pleasing that good news that comes out of the blue and into your lap which brings a smile to your face and makes life all worthwhile. We can expect times like this and look forward to the days, the better days ahead just like the Easter story when dark breaks into light and though there may be weeping at night joy will come in the morning.
