The Psalms were written by King David the Hebrew leader around 3000 years ago. David was a warrior King who warred with so much blood on his hands was stopped from building the first Temple in Jerusalem . That was left for his son Solomon to do. David knew wars and wrote Psalm 10, the first 10 verses below.
Ok , many of you that read this blog are not believers but those that are might ask the first question below. It won’t take long to work out the wicked man of the moment who as verse 3 has blessed a few greedy and lives up to verse 5 in every way. The guy fits the bill every step of the way. Anyway if you have time today read the remaining 8 verses and see the outcome of the situation of that wicked man.
1.Why, Lord, do you stand far off?
Why do you hide yourself(B) in times of trouble?
2 In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak,(C)
who are caught in the schemes he devises.
3 He boasts(D) about the cravings of his heart;
he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord.(E)
4 In his pride the wicked man does not seek him;
in all his thoughts there is no room for God.(F)
5 His ways are always prosperous;
your laws are rejected by[b] him;
he sneers at all his enemies.
6 He says to himself, “Nothing will ever shake me.”
He swears, “No one will ever do me harm.”(G)7 His mouth is full(H) of lies and threats;(I)
trouble and evil are under his tongue.(J)
8 He lies in wait(K) near the villages;
from ambush he murders the innocent.(L)
His eyes watch in secret for his victims;
9 like a lion in cover he lies in wait.
He lies in wait to catch the helpless;(M)
he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.(N)
10 His victims are crushed,(O) they collapse;
they fall under his strength.
Meantime the guy’s Patriarch religious leader calls him a ‘ miracle from God ‘, am I missing something? The Patriarch is listed in Forbes as being a billionaire and is a close ally. Understandably one can get confused with this and ask whose side are you on God ?. Is the guy prospering and wreaking havoc as thousands die and cities ruined , what’s happening? We will have to wait to get the answer but questions will be asked. The fact is God is with all of us waiting for us to get it right and giving us all in this life a chance to do that which is right. It’s Humanity that sucks with different versions of failure as the free will given to us all is freely used. As the final verse of the Psalm says we are all mere mortals and we will pass just like King David when he had his three score and ten then died. The current wicked man is three score and ten in October and still has a little time to put it right. I’m not quite sure however if he reads my blog.
