Am I missing something ?. The phrase ‘ poke the bear ‘ means deliberately provoking someone or some entity that is more powerful than you. Doing so is likely to result in serious damage being done to you. To do so would require a very good reason and an even better escape plan.
In the case today Nancy Pelosi is about to poke the dragon and she needs to bear that very much in mind as she plans to visit Taiwan. What the heck is she expecting to accomplish by her visit. China are very unhappy with her flight plan to do so whilst the White House have said that nothing has changed between China and USA, adding that the USA view Taiwan as part of Greater China, respecting their ‘ one China Policy ‘ Really ? with its avowed oath to defend Taiwan in the event of a Military takeover., why ? If Pelosi , the USA House Speaker doesn’t take her boarding pass now it will appear that she has bowed to the pressure from the Chinese to take action ( what does that mean ? ) and effectively by default humiliated her own country if they don’t counteract.
I just don’t understand and I do know that many a flame is caused by the spark of stupidity , a cigarette butt flying into the dry woods of diplomacy. Look Nancy do us all a favor and stay away even if your excuse is Covid. Surely you have enough dramas elsewhere to visit, try inflation and your 14 trillion dollar debt, try talking to that other Bear that prowls Ukraine. President Xi is looking for permanent re-election and you’re playing into his hands. Dragons blow flames, Bears have big teeth and USA have it all.
Let’s build on what we have and from where we are, keep out of the fight and remember no action is action ( the sign that says so hangs over Tiananmen Square. PS Bears and Dragons don’t like each other either, leave them too it and see what happens. We pray.
