Confusion

In a recent article in the Washington Post , Prenshu Verma wrote that we are on the doorstep of a new source of energy , Nuclear Fusion. This comes at a time of great concern over continued fossil fuel feed and Carbon dioxide emissions. A new energy source is required if mankind is to survive. The extract from the article sets out below what it is and Verma is far cleverer than me so here is what he says :

‘ The science relies on smashing two atoms together at incredibly high speeds and transforming the energy from that reaction into electricity that can power homes and offices. If mastered, fusion power plants could provide cheap and endless energy without emitting carbon into the air or dumping radioactive waste into the environment. ‘

I mention the fact in the blog today as I got lost yesterday and found myself driving past Harwell which is effectively HQ of British Science and where the nuclear fusion Pioneers wearing Union Jacks are busy. Einstein worried about the dangers to mankind of splitting the atom , making no mention of smashing them together and life benefits. The process is the same as the self powering sun we see everyday everywhere.

The other fusion going on presently around the world is Confusion which is uncertainty about what is happening, intended, or required. The more I speak to people the less they all know what’s going on. The fact is there are just too many unknowns. The Russians who looked at nuclear fusion way back in the 1950’s are now smashing the lives out of each other in Ukraine. My German friend is worried about the gas from Russian that supplies his country from being switched off as he says the Germans ready to shiver at Winter. Summer ending shortly has worried the life out of the British elderly who don’t know whether to eat or heat. Confusion reigns as we replace our leader and never have we been so rudderless as now. The likely person is Truss which is a roof support , I’m getting concerned that following the roof may fall in.

Meantime I’m looking forward to seeing those clear thinkers at NASA in operation this coming Friday when Artemis One is launched into Space to orbit the Moon. It’s so exciting as it’s the first stage in building a platform to go to Mars and another example of man’s pursuit of progress. I am confused as to why it’s taken so long to get back to the Moon and why post Concord we lost time in supersonic travel now replaced by in course newly created supersonic Jets. History tells us that in progress there are lull moments when nothing seems to be happy. Confusion can be a lull time and can be used as a time of pause, rest and reflection which we humans need. There were no Owls in my location this year as they chose not to nest as their voles food supply dried up with the drought. Even the Owls are confused. My take is that we need not be confused but use this time to ready ourselves for the change to come and to prepare for exciting times, full of unique opportunities when we can change your world, my world and our world into a better place.
