It’s not what you Know it’s who you Know is a famous saying that NO one Knows the origin. It is normally a saying by a career lament. ‘ Not many people know that ‘ was famously uttered by Michael Caine though originally attributed to Peter Sellers.
Today is the 60th Anniversary of the release of Dr NO and I remember it like NO doubt many others as a very young boy watching Ursula coming out of the sea with conch shells. It was the beginning of the sixties that swung everything into action from the Fleming novel of the same name published in 1958. The year was 1962 the year of the Cuban Missile Crisis and today not much has changed.
Any young boy seeing Ursula coming out of the water would NO doubt be equally ignited and again we arrive on the eve of a Nuclear possibility. For me at the time there was No thing more eruptive than Ursula. Dr No the bad guy was played by Joseph Wiseman who died many years ago unlike Ursula who is alive and well living in her native Switzerland.
Dr No was the bad guy with the metal arm and the black hand to crush anything in his way. World domination was his agenda but nothing dominated the Movie world more than James Bond whose franchise went on to gross $7 billion worldwide. Dr No cost $1 million to make and grossed $47 million.
Meantime nothing much has changed and the villain now appears in the form of Mr P who threatens the world like his predecessor Nikita K. Not sure if James Bond is on his way to stop Mr P but if he gets there tomorrow he can join in the 70th birthday celebration. Unlike Dr No out of Spectre , Mr P was birthed out of KGB and like many forgets that he is just another man passing through this life who can’t take anything with him and will never dominate.
It’s a shame that Mr P doesn’t really know that simple fact and that he has spent his life in pursuit of what ? It may not be too late for Mr P to get to know his maker and wake up to peace on his 70th birthday remembering it’s not what you know it’s who you know.
Thanks Mr qbitblogger. A very clever but sad reflection on how power can corrupt, especially for the likes of Mr P, and I would also add Mr T of the USA.
