Something is happening.

It’s approaching 8.00am at the Brompton Oratory . People especially many young people are gathering around the altar readying to hear the Latin Mass.

There seems to be a revival going on. Gone are the days of low attendance and young especially young men are here. The Priest facing with his back to the people mutters Latin to the wall and something mysterious is happening. This ancient rite culminating in transubstantiation ( the turning of bread and wine into the blood and flesh of Christ )

This rich Church that has stood in Knightsbridge since mid Victorian times, once a garden centre serving the capital now a place of worship. Across the road is the Place of Commercialism , Harrods hanging green on the horizon.The two are incongruous 

It is London 2023 nearly 2000 years since Jesus Christ died nailed to a cross on the site of a bus station in Jerusalem. It is 1700 years since Constantine adopted Christianity in Rome yet today it thrives. Something is happening now in a world which looks more like end times than new beginning. Are we in the book of Revelation and will the armies gather soon at Armageddon. Harrods founded in 1849 after the year of European Revolution cant last as long as Mammon eventually falls. 

Nearly one fifth of the global population has followed the Roman and despite its many controversies it stands like a rock. The young gather round the church fills in communion.
