I rose one day last week as I normally do for a 4.00am prayer. That day I decided to climb a local hill to see the sunrise and captured the above photo as the sun kissed the morning dew. Such a beautiful view , surrounded by immense peace is medicine to the mind coupled with a read from one of the 150 Psalms in the Bible is joy to the day.
The Psalms were written by David , his son Solomon about 1000 years BCE though Psalm 90 was written by Moses 1500 BCE. Moses of basket in the Nile fame, brought up by Pharaoh them banished into sheep herding in Saudi Arabia led the Israelite slaves out of the Infrastructure program called the pyramids into the wilderness en route to the Promised land . A journey of. 11 days took 40 years and aged 120 Moses wrote it but never saw that which is Israel today.
In the 4th verse of his Psalm he wrote that a 1000 years is like a day in the sight of God. Little did me know that by Wednesday of any week we would be reading his Psalm. David the 8th and youngest son of Jesse defeated Goliath with that single stone from his sling and went on to become King. My favourite Psalm of his is 91 where again in verse 4 he tells us that God ‘s faithfulness is our protection and way out of trouble . Not our faithfulness but His , how incredible and I’ve seen that many times in my little life. The 91st Airborne Regiment recite the Psalm daily and there has never been one of them lost in battle.
Psalm 138 is beautiful and verse 3 says if we cry out to God for help in prayer He will answer us and embolden us to deal with whatever the issue. I get that as I live it and found that assurance so wonderful this very week. With only 150 it’s not a waste of time to read 3 psalms a week and by year end see what happens in your life. Look try it I’ve not lost the plot but these effective poems and songs are a game changer and many of you need to change your game.
Try it.
