Seeing Santa Claus on the train this morning waving to me at the train crossing summed up the year for me. What a yo yo year it’s been. Inflation up then down, interest rates up and maybe down, house prices falling then rising, stock markets rising like crazy. Wars , rumours of wars earthquakes, floods and famine. The daily news fluctuates like a media madness. You can’t plan ahead if you believe there may not be any ahead.
The bank called in many loans, Santa was forced this year to sell the sleigh and reindeers to repay them. Yes 2023 he’s had to take the train, though whether they would even run confounded him even more. Strikes , hikes and increasing bikes surround us. Road closures, emissions charges , cycle lanes and chaos meant motorising was uphill all the way. How can we kill the very thing that pays to keep the country going . Motorists pay taxes , cyclists don’t. We are going to be much healthier and broke.
The train Santa had to take was a heritage steam train as Eurostar didn’t look like it was going to run and all the main stations were closing earlier for engineering works. Meanwhile EV is coming but can someone tells me what powers up those batteries. Wind farms blew 64% of electricity on to the National Grid yesterday and I’m telling you that’s not just a load of hot air.

Anyway Ho Ho Christmas has come and Santa is on his way with the bags. As regards the economy, the world , the wars and all that is Yo Yo , I say Hey Ho we can only do what we can do, behave yourselves and do the right thing. My wife loves Classical music so Santa is bringing her one of Yo Yo Ma’s 90 albums. A lovely fellow who plays his cello.
