It’s all Relative in love and War.

The prospect of sons and daughters being called up for war featured in the Telegraph newspaper today. A mimic of the call of Lord Kitchener would have concerned many parents.

We know that the Generals and certainly the Politicians remain in the Chateau but in reality there is much family fodder. Napoleon and Wellington were leaders on the battlefield of course but they remained perched on their horses and retreated speedily at Waterloo.

Many leaders example Herbert Asquith sent his five sons into battle and Roosevelt’s son was first on the beach on D Day. Other leaders such as Benjamin Netanyahu have sons safely in Miami whilst other Israeli parents (24 this week ) saw their children perish.

History shows that some battles were fought by leaders and the one that died solved the issue of victor and loser. David slayed Goliath and ended a war with his slingshot as the Philistines surrendered. Had Hitler met Churchill in Hyde Park for a duel or Putin met Zelenskyy in a cage fight we could all get on with life.

In the movie Saving Private Ryan Spielberg creates a purely fictional story loosely based off the four Niland Brothers in WW2 but the fact remains it’s the kids that die and depending on generation it could be yours. In Asia 10 year old children were enlisted but the first batch in Europe is usually 18 years old.

Royalty in Britain are not excluded of course as Prince Andrew let’s not forget went into battle as did his nephew Harry. The fact is in war there is risk whoever they are. Lest we forget comes after of course but I say lets remember we are in dangerous times and we need solutions not soldiers.

Donald Trump was eligible for draft into the Vietnam War but a diagnosis of bone spurs in his heels disqualified him. He is now running like crazy for President , his heels look healed and it looks like he will become President and give us all a better prospect of peace. If not it could be Barron the Brave out there . Or Trump v Kim , Xi and Valdamir in a cage fight. It’s all relative in love and war.
