Keep the Cogs turning.

In the year of the American Presidential Election the question of Cognitive Impairment is high on the agenda. There is also a rise in Dementia related diseases markedly so since the end of Covid. Of the 5 or 6 types of Alzheimer’s diseases 40% of the cases could be avoided. I say this having listened to a Neuro Scientist Professor Shane O’Mara in the Chris Johns / Jim Power prolific podcast today.

According to conclusions from an earlier Lancet publication there are two distinct causations of dementia. Lack of education and poor hearing. The education aspect is interesting as there was a fall in higher education around Covid which is it seems a coincidental contributor to the recent rise in cases. The Hearing or diminished hearing leads to less social interaction and contributes to loneliness ( that very silent killer ).

Biden at 81 is levied at being too ill to be President but there has been no consensus of diagnosis other than an American Lawyer remotely diagnosing him as unfit. Professor O’Mara believes his hesitancy to delay in response is due primarily due to his speech stammer and his self taught pause process of overcoming the same. Trump at 77 shows no sign though memory loss has been noticed often confusing Biden with Obama ( he might be colour blind ). The fact is old people and these two are in that category are within such classification do see memory loss.

So the answer keep those cogs turning and with all things balanced twinned with keeping moving with muscle and aerobic training the chances of illness far reduce. With the phenomenon of super ageing we can all go into our 90s.

They say writing blogs helps as long as you don’t bore your readers and therefore I try tackle a whole and varied range of topics. Anyway try finding the Johns / Power Podcast which keeps up your education and your hearing while you get their App and walk around the fields. Keep your cogs turning.
