I can’t keep up with it all. Today is April after an early Easter we are besieged with April Fool’s Day. Psalm 14 says only a fool would claim there is no God. I know quite a few fools on this basis. The origin of April Fool’s Day is unknown but the fool has been with us since day one.
I’m running the race but time is running out quickly and the finishing line is somewhere up ahead. The fact is the race has become more complicated since I left the block. More people have joined the race and the cultural mix is phenomenal. Add to that the fact that every day has a new name I’m bemused . Happy Ramadan hangs over Oxford Street when once it was only Happy Christmas. We wish people Happy Easter but don’t forget Divali or Hanakuh, Earth Day , International Women’s Day, Mothers Day , Fathers Day, Veterans Day. Then there SAD day, Red Nose Day, Red face Day ( yes it’s embarrassing when you don’t know what day it is. The fact is every day has a name and it’s just not Monday. We work every day, take calls every day, what’s app , text , e mail , the whole thing has merged into one big pot.
Yes indeed and it don’t stop cooking. I’m running the race so are nearly 8 billion more of us and I’m finding it difficult to keep up with it all. Anyway I’ll keep on running and at some point hand over the baton making sure it’s not dropped in the process. I’m told that when I eventually do I’ll meet those who have already run the race. Meantime I can hear them all shouting encouragement from the stands ‘ Go on you can do it ‘ . Those clouds of witnesses are there and that’s no April Fool’s joke I can assure you. Dare I say Happy April Fool’s Day or am I just trying to keep up with it all ?
