Tit for Tat

Tit for tat is taking equivalent revenge for harm or injury. It is a human response often seen and it can escalate to actions worse and regrettable. It is emotionally founded. I say it must be avoided and life must be taken on higher ground.

We see overnight an attack upon Israel by nations aggrieved for their mistake and a tit for tat Israeli response could escalate to the worse and regrettable for us all. To arm with calm is the next best move. Silence powerfully speaks. Those that keep their heads rest in their beds.

Fisher Bondi whom I have spoken of before played piano in the Nazi concentration camps to survive. As a concert pianist his life was spared to entertain the SS but he told me that the Nazi could not control their response to any situation.

Instant messaging and e mail can lead to instant tit for tat and it is messaging to nowhere. The Rabbi Jesus told us to turn the other cheek and to pray for our enemies. Apostle Paul in his letter to the Romans told us not to avenge so as to leave room for God’s wrath.

Tit for Tat can lead to anger and rage as emotion turns the page. Anger generally lasts for 15 minutes a timeline in which much damage can be done. Anger affects your health and those that hold that horrible feeling for prolonged periods seriously decline. Forgiveness is the most powerful tool in the box and to work things out better than to knock someone out.

Keiko Holmes took ex military men in wheel chairs to meet their Japanese captors who had tortured them in War camps. Often the men would rise from their chairs as they met and forgave. Forgiveness remains all powerful and the only weapon to deploy. Pray for peace, be mindful for calm and no more tit for tat.
