Rush

April was consumed so fast as though May can’t wait to get here. 2024 to date this never ending rain is being taken so fast and it feels we need rid of it. There is rush , rush to complete rush from frustrations , rush away from life’s complexities. Concentration is rare, now no longer the answer we are in a rush and time has joined us.

The pandemic was on hindsight a compulsory pause on earth when we were all given chance to revalue, reappraise and re synchronise. Many missed that opportunity and the pause became the cause of even greater hardships. The birds sang louder , the planes fell silent for silence entered the room.

Yet we are back , tearing down motorways, roads as time evaporates. So fast and so much so that we have had to call the start of old age to 74 because youth needs longer to squeeze life in.

One of the signs of age according to a feature read yesterday is being unable to keep up with technology and there’s a lot to keep up with. You can’t exist without a PIN number and password , the elderly must have contactless and have digital divergence . To park my car in London I needed a parking account , a pre programmed registration number, a dedicated bank card with money in the bank and a smartphone to talk and walk the program. Without these basics let alone registration to enter the city and burn fossil fuel I would have been done. Towed away to the Tower. The elderly or some can’t keep up. The rush to charge is on.

We won’t need ID cards as our footprint in towns and places is it and without it you’re out of the race. The race to where the rush to where for many remains unanswered. Mindfulness is of course important but having time for the now increasingly difficult. There is rush even in the hush.

Yesterday I did stop for three hours as I waited for my wife. I took time out to go down memory lane many diverted as London traffic systems altered. I visited the old life and saw the new. A place where I once bought cheesecake sold by a fat Italian man in an apron shouting ‘ come on have it , it’s good for you ‘ I still heard him even though the shop was now a beautiful coffee shop off Bond Street.

London has changed and of course it should . Imagine Julius Caesar coming to town he’d notice a few changes since he was here. And in a eureka moment I got it. We are all just passing through and will take our time our moment in the bite of life. There must be change and there will be change. There is no rush , rush is where it’s at, some are rushing to Mars , some to their next fix , some just being carried along. Alas to embrace it all is the experience and peace may well come in having a debit card and smartphone to be able to park your car outside Gails on Great Portland Street and have a cheesecake moment with a pot of tea.
