Hans Thoma the German painter in 1880 drew his portrait of Loneliness. The emotion that leads to anxiety and most certainly will affect one’s mental health.

Leadership is lonely. Ask Donald Trump who like it or not is standing on his own , the convicted felon. The first ex President to face imprisonment, yes highly unlikely and highlighting the madness of the American Judiciary. He faces 137 years in prison and if it happens will be 214 years old when released.

Nelson Mandela left prison to lead his nation after 27 years inside. I stood in his Robin Island cell and felt the injustice surrounding me.

The Apostle Paul was imprisoned too and came out to lead the world into Christianity. Prison is not the end but the imprisoned are alone. Meanwhile I’m beginning to feel sorry for Sunak who appears to be the only Conservative left as he goes out alone to win an election. Where are his colleagues ?

As for his opponent the man who had a charisma bypass and likely to be our next leader Mr Starmer soon to experience the loneliness of office and living in that flat at Number 10.

Who would want these leadership jobs ? Loneliness is a pandemic caused by social media , digital destruction and internet domination of our interior. 72% of communication daily is non vocal and relationships with robots coming wide and soon. As the global population increase so does loneliness.

People can be lonely in a marriage in an open plan office or anywhere. We need to eliminate the condition and we need more community and to start looking out for the silent majority.
