D DAY 2

After this weeks 80th Anniversary of the D Day landing in 1944 we look at the next D Day ( Dad’s Day ) celebrating today.

Like landing on that beach of parenthood some Dads will fail and die , some will succeed get through and go on. Becoming a father is easier than being a father. Fatherhood is not Dad hood.

Some land on that beach totally bewildered, some alert to the job ahead , some just won’t make it. The survivors look back with pride all that they achieved and live to see next generations becoming grand and great grandfathers.

Some volunteer willingly to serve, some conscripted by obligation. Fatherhood is a battle , win one fight another. The enemy has many forces, bills , stress , workloads, time and more but victory is sweet and it comes with blessings.

Some fathers can’t take the heat and go AWOL , deserters in the desert , absent without leave. Some step up in surrogate roles like saving substitutes onto the field of favour. For to be a Dad is an honour and the kids pin on marvellous medals.

For those who hope to be a Father at some point always remember that respect and love for their Mother will be the greatest gift you can give. Choose your wife to be with care and never rush to any altar for divorce will alter everyone’s lives and all those involved.

In the UK today there are 457,000 single fathers and it may well be a battle you will fight alone. Hats off to those guys for at first hand I have seen their dedication.

Anyway let’s enjoy the day and celebrate the children here and to come. Fight on men your children need you.
