The meaning of the word discernment is the ability to Judge well. Only this week we have seen several major events that require from our leaders great discernment.
Rachel Reeves the recently appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer is in process of preparing her first budget. Already she has withdrawn a fuel benefit for the elderly and threatens heavy taxes upon us all.
Mr Putin has threatened the rain of fire upon NATO if long range missiles appear on his horizon. Trump and Harris like the boxers in Madison Square Garden threw nasty punches at each other in their TV debate fighting for the Oval Office where discernment not destruction is needed. Leaders whose judgement will attack the jugular veins of our lives and alter its course.
Psalm 119 v 125 shows King David in a plea to God for discernment to understand His precepts. The need to seek steer and guidance a must yet few seek His counsel.
Our decisions are vitally important and we need other’s counsel and sober approach in all we do. So many depend on our decisions and there is immense responsibility. Leaders are voted into office without much thought because the flocks are blindly led often by a baying media driven by size of canvass budgets. July brought in Labour because the Conservatives failed, November will bring in someone in a divided country by the fewest of votes and Putin holds elections where there is no other candidates.
We have all made mistakes, our discernment has failed yet now more than ever in the time we are about to enter we need sound judgment. Discernment decides destiny.
