Pub Call

The owner of one of Britain’s ‘ cheapest pubs ‘ has called time on Kier Starmer’s Government. British Democracy dictates that any Petition over 10,000 signatures must be debated in the House of Commons.

Michael Westwood the Pub owner has raised a petition on the grounds that the newly elected Labour Party have reneged on their July election promises and that a General Election should be called.

At the time of writing over 2.1million people have signed the petition. Will it be last orders ? I doubt it as the Labour Government have a 5 year mandate with a 400 plus seat majority. The Pub will neither close or clear and the nation will become even more intoxicated with the shenanigans of Labour. Having said that the Tories were not much better and the other parties are presently non runners in what was a one dray horse race to the pub

That old fashioned way of delivering beer barrels to the pub is similar to the horse and cart of the rag and bone man taking out the junk. Steptoe and Son written by Galton and Simpson whom I knew well featured a Father and Son scrap yard duo in the very famous BBC comedy of that name circa 1970 to 1980. Some are saying that Britain is readying for the scrap heap and that Kier with Rachel are driving the dead horse with cart.

Horse riding was never on Rachel Reeves’ CV or scrap dealing was never mentioned as part of her Economist activities. Kier in the legal profession always worked by the hour and will be no stranger to time being called by his clients.

Anyways it’s a rum lot when petitions circulate in no confidence debate. People are fickle and the British public are not to be lied to. They are not fools which reminds me of that other BBC comedy programme’ Only fools and horses ‘

Nigel Farage likes a beer and maybe the next petition will be to call him in as Prime Minister to run the place. A takeover by him of the Tories sooner rather than later may be a fast track into power and let the much needed reform take place. Your round.
