Please America.

Recent blogs have highlighted America the Great and how proud their citizens can be of being an American Citizen. The beacon of democracy, the protector of Human Rights and the Champion of Justice fades when one sees their actions and these bring down their reputation to the level of other nations without conscience.

For me this was highlighted by the incarceration of Ghislaine Maxwell in a Brooklyn Detention Centre until July 2021 and ahead of her Trial. As she apparently presents a flight risk she is according to press reports in a cell 10 feet by 8 feet with a small window an open alloy toilet and a bunk bed screwed to the wall. The cell she shares with another inmate and she is allowed out into an open pen for one hour per day. The electric light in the cell meantime is left on permanently. Maxwell has to wear paper clothes and sleeps on paper sheets under a paper pillow.

No matter how heinous the alleged crime she had not yet been found guilty by a Jury under the steer of a Judge and that is the fundamental human right or indeed should be in any Society. If that right fails then Society that allows that will fail in due season. If she is a flight risk then she could be tagged and allowed out pending Trial or kept in less hostile environment. If she does commit suicide then by her own action she will have paid the irreversible price.

If the incarceration is designed to tell all and spill the beans then whoever decided on that needs help. Maxwell is still a woman and those Governing Men should not standby and allow any woman to be treated like this no matter what she has done. If Maxwell were to be found guilty she is due to be imprisoned for 35 years. If she did do these heinous things we still don’t know and we don’t know why either as it could happen again. There must be a middle road in all of this and unless that road is found then I fear for America. Throw away the keys of Justice and open the gates of hell.

I do not know or have ever met Ms Maxwell but I did meet her father, Robert and I did meet in 2015 the man that laid him to rest on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. Her father met his death when he disappeared off his Yacht named after her. Though never tried he too was accused of misdemeanours of a fiscal kind and his death eradicated the prospect of seeing truth.

Ricky Jackson is an American and he served 40 years in solitary confinement before he was found wrongly accused then released. If humanity chooses to adopt systems where the rulers and leaders choose methods of inhumanity then those people come only down to the level of perpetrators of the crime and we then eventually see a society where dog eats dog and mankind is unable to show itself better than the worst animal. The Star Chamber is not the Chamber of Justice and Innocent until proven guilty must be not only upheld but seen to be upheld.

Maxwell is being punished ahead of trial, prone now to confess anything even that which is unreliable and whatever she has or has not done she should be allowed access to her defence and kept in humane conditions. At a time of great injustices in America in every colour and walk of life one must be worried. We must as humanity find a better way if we don’t then I fear the worse. My friend who survived Dachau concentration camp told me something that no matter how they were abused the one thing that could not be controlled was their response. Please America respond in the right way or become the perpetrator.
