Unto us a Child is Born

If someone predicted an event 700 odd years before it happened you might sit up and listen next time he spoke. Isaiah the prophet did this and his words were recorded in that best selling book the bible written around 1500 years later. Now 2000 years on we still hear this story of the event. Today we celebrate that event the birth of Jesus Christ.

In the beautiful rendition of Handel’s Messiah we hear those words, ‘ Unto us a child is born Wonderfull Counsellor , Mighty God, Everlasting Father , Prince of Peace ‘ . Words recorded in the book of Isaiah Chapter 9 verses 6 and 7. Simeon recognised him and I’ve seen him in action because I’ve seen Him in all those roles.

As Counsellor He would outdo any advisor you could meet , simply because He knows where you came from and where you’re going. He showed me the way many times this year. He is Mighty and when you have a battle on your hands ( I’ve had a few this year ) He steps up to the plate and shows His might. Unlike an earthly father, your father he is always there , everlasting and just always there. Like any father he may chastise you but only for your own good especially when your on the wrong track. As for being Prince of Peace, not the Peace post war but an inner Peace that just falls upon you at times vital when you get that feeling that everything is just fine. Well He is that Prince of everything is fine and I’ve felt that when I called Him for help.

Many people have never met Him and He’s waiting to get to know them but you have to invite Him into your life. Like the Shepherds on the hillside or the Three Wise Kings who came you have to go see Him and He’s there waiting for you now. If you’re unsettled today or need help or advice in any difficult situation just ask Him to come into your situation to sort it out. Many are in trouble or despair tonight , I’ve been there and I called upon him, so don’t be shy don’t wait any longer He’s there waiting. He’s ready to speak to simple shepherds and wise kings, to the lonely to the troubled and to the leaders of the world. No one has priority and in His eyes we are equal. As I said He knows you and He knows your needs. Unto us a child is born. Pay that visit, go see for yourself tonight or today, make the journey and see what I’m talking about.
