Love can come from the Strangest Place.

The Blogger’s friend Andy Taylor wrote this song 40 years ago at a time of great musical success in his youth, recording albums at Abbey Road with EMI alongside The Beatles. Though the song was never published it surfaced again within Andy following a tragic period in his life.

Out walking following the suicide of his brother and eight weeks later the death of his mother, the song surfaced and he tells the story and sings the song in the link. Suicide is a subject that the Blogger has written of before. Three years ago I spoke of the concerns of the American Military leaders that more deaths were happening from suicide than their forces suffered in armed combat. The new enemy had become mental health, an enemy that was often unseen, unspoken and unheard of until it was too late. My last blog on the subject helped avert two suicides when those involved reached out. The help someone needs as Andy says , when all seems hopeless is love that can come from the strangest places. Love in action is kindness, reaching out , looking around for the signs of those in need.

The Samaritans, one such organisation accessible to listen tell us that male suicide is on the increase circa 7000 per year in UK and the increase in suicide of men under 25 risen by 95% in the last year that statistics were taken. The Samaritans are strangers and how sad that it takes a stranger to help. Indeed you too can become a stranger and you too can be the love that comes from the strangest place.

Many years ago I was with my friend a famous photographer who took his life the next day. To this day I kick myself for not seeing the signs for by that next day I was too late. In Andy’s lyric encourage those that you sense are in the vulnerable place of Witts End to ‘ just wait a little longer for love can come from the strangest place ‘

As Andy is now at the time of the first anniversary do spare a thought for him but how marvellous it is that out of his pain came this song , this blog and your help to others. Andy is right ‘ Love can come from the strangest place ‘
