Concorde. The new era.

I flew by Concorde last Friday, that famous twice the speed of sound supersonic jet. Last seen flying in 2003 I remember flying on it when a tad slimmer and arriving in New York one hour before I left London. The experience was indeed unique. Around 6pm most evenings you could hear it bang as the great bird graced the sky. Alas after bad accidents it left the aviation scene so I was very surprised to see it parked by the Hangar last Friday at Heathrow.

My plane was making its way to the runway at the time , taxing for takeoff. It was the first time I had flown for 2 years and an experience remembered. Equipped with my double vaccination papers, my letters of honour and my Pre return covid tests fixed I masked up for flight , buckled that belt and up we went.

The walk through security was dull the stripping and machine scan never a high point and the frisk down always embattled. Then stopped by a lady and asked to empty my briefcase and explain why I had my laptop and why I was carrying a sharp pen was odd. However it was good to look at life again from above the clouds and ponder the new era.

Climate change would not have us fly but how are we going to exchange for business in the future. Zoom in a room or boom in your tail. Life is going back to normal and Concorde would cut down on fly time and pollution me thinks ?

Indeed this is coming, sub orbital flights to Australia from the UK in 90 minutes from the Cornish Space Station at Newquay are now an Agenda. Up and over to down under , can you imagine ? Further if you buy a return ticket on Boomerang Airlines you’ll return automatically. Returning just in time for another Zoom call. No more Airline meals to suffer, no more movies to watch , no more queues for the toilet or rush to flush. Leave at breakfast return for lunch. It’s all coming in the new era and as they say in Italy ‘ it’s era to stay ‘
