We rarely see the Union Jack flag these days and though in the Olympics we trade under the brand Britain name the mention is less and the Great prefix looks depleted. Gone are the days of Empire and we are now imposter world leaders.
Brexit led us of course out of the European Union and though we are part of NATO it feels that with goings on in Ukraine we are out of the equation , not at the table. Add to that the fact we have allowed our Capital London to accommodate Laundromats and allowed honours to bestowed upon the good the bad and the very ugly.
Our leaders have become tarnished, lacking morals and ethics. We opened the floodgates of compromise and saw only the pound before the pounding. Our Prime Minister wanted to be Winston Churchill and at the moment he was called entered not his finest but his worst hours with scandal after scandal. All of this under his watch as Mayor and PM something went terribly wrong.
Our Monarchy has not helped and the loss of the Queen will feel like the final nail in our final coffin. Her amazing reign of 70 years will be the last time we are likely to see the flag raised and waved. We seem to have lost the great value of being together, social media has driven us all apart and Covid did not help. Isolated we see mental illness as an ever prominent aspect of life today. The Union of congregation thwarted by the tools of the 21st Century.
Others have seen us as a soft touch. Our Stock Exchanges have become the Casino Currency from the Corrupt, our Soccer teams have had their balls kicked around by infiltrators and the Home game has literally been given Away. Our failed executives with honour and reputation have succumbed to seats on Bad Guy Boards as their own reputations sacrificed for succour.
Our prime property has been out priced for the locals and the lights out residences line our streets like impotent candles. English and Wales law protects their assets and British law has never been plied. Our Family Law Division caters for any Divorce from Anywhere as long as their are the Ackers ( money ) to flush their wares. We have become the Financial Centre of the World yet our Union has been jacked, jacked up by foreign money , forgotten by most and abandoned in the rush for the I’m alright Jack brigade.

I am oddly more bullish about your homeland. It seems culturally relevant to me and I still listen when she speaks. The Young Royals seem more human than your Queen was at their age, as if not afraid to mingle with those they shall rule. And where else would one go for shirts, suits, shoes, hats, or umbrellas???
(And I may still take its leadership over ours!)
