A new Mantra will shortly be heard coming out of the Home Office. As Suella the Buddhist takes over from Pritti the Hindu , the extremely diverse Conservative Party keep up the the healthy mix of leaders seeking to lead us out of exile post Brexit into the new Promised Land.
Suella is connected apparently to the Triratna order which several years ago under Sangharakshita was embroiled in sexual abuse allegations amongst its members. No different perhaps than sexual abuse within the Catholic, Anglican and Jewish which has plagued mankind in cult like cultures.
In the case of Triratna , Sangharakshita was Dennis Lingwood from Tooting South London and the son of a French Polisher, not a Polisher from France I hasten but from Tooting. Dennis got into meditation when he absconded from the British Army in the Second World War while stationed in India. The order he started was the Western British Order and Suella is a remnant member. How her Buddhist ethic will affect her attitude to Refugees and Rwanda remains to be seen but something for her to meditate upon no doubt.
The new Cabinet will be an interesting place to be in the days to come as it houses those from different religious beliefs. The new Prime Minister shares Christian values but says she does not ‘ practice ‘, plenty of Sermons on the Mount I guess but not a Mountain climber.
Let’s pray for our new leaders , all of them and let wisdom reign as they deal with all their problems that the country face. Come what may and whatever the individual beliefs might be there are common goals to go for. When push comes to shove whether they are in the Temple, Synagogue or Church no one has yet returned to tell us which one of us has got it right.
That remains to be seen in the meantime it’s all about Faith and it will take a Braverman than me to tell you otherwise. I’m sticking to what Boris said when he quoted the scripture Psalm 53 verse 1 : ‘ Only a fool would say there is no God ‘
I like the idea of religious diversity within our government, but I also think that it’s not what you believe but how you behave that matters most.
