Unforeseen Circumstances

I read yesterday an article of predictions for 2023 and the author stated ‘ I stand here at the foothills of the mountain 2023 ‘. I thought that was neat and a good picture of the uphill challenges facing us all in this new , new year again. A little later I arrived at Church to find the above notice hanging on the door. This I found hilarious , a plastic ring binder hanging on the thread on this rich red door and wondered what were the ‘ unforeseen circumstances’

Clearly there was no prophet in the Church otherwise nothing would be unforeseen but of course all of the future is unforeseen. Yes we all have a rough idea of what to expect but it is at best only a sketch. Did we really expect Russia to try annihilate Ukraine this time last year ? Of course not but we need to look out for the signs of what is likely to be coming down your track in 2023.

I met a man in the Hotel / Restaurant car park this morning all kitted out in his gym attire cap included , placing ear buds in his ears ( where else ) and locking his car. I wished him well and he sighed saying his wife had told him to drive 5 miles to the place and run back then pick his family up to walk back for lunch. 10 miles ,now that was an unforeseen for the poor bloke when he proposed marriage to her.

Life is full of challenges and what do we do as we await the roll out of events. My Boy Scout training has taught me to Be Prepared yet some events are major, A sage once told me to expect the unexpected. I noticed in Selfridges London that they have a room where you can consult your very own fortune teller at a price which I found odd and it was located near the multi faith prayer room. Best await the unforeseen I say and forget the crystal ball gazing. God has the plan ( Jeremiah 29 verse 11 ) and He establishes them ( Proverbs 16 verse 9 ). They say if we show Him our plans He will roll about laughing.

Nowadays I’m told via DNA testing you can glean what illness you are susceptible to yet I prefer to not go there as a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. The Unforeseen is something of a joy for surprises come in good and bad wrapping. I’ll take both and embrace them with the fortitude gained over many years of dealing with the seen unforeseen. Anyway I managed to get to the Village Hall and got reminded of Hebrews 11 verse 1which says:

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see

Don’t know about you but I’m sticking with faith.

  1. Happy New Year.

Spoke with / saw Sue on FaceTime at the week-end.

She is clearly much better thank goodness. I was fully recovered (makes me sound like a three-piece suite) a couple of days before Christmas. Thank you.

Curious to know what the ‘unforeseen circumstances’ notice on the church door was about?

    Had the heating system failed?

    Take care both of you.

    Blessings
