499 out of 500

After a liver shrinkage diet of yoghurt and soup the day finally came to operate All I can say is the NHS Medical team and care is excellent, second to none and a treasure for us all in Brexit Britain.

Cometh the hour cometh the NHS and they field a team from many nations all dedicated , all caring and we can be thankful. The two surgeons were from Afghanistan and England, the anesthetists all three from Europe, the recovery nurse from Italy and the Ward nurses from Ghana, Nigeria and Nepal. The operation was successful and keyhole surgery which normally is release in a day kept me tonight only for monitoring check ( they are ultra careful too )

One of the highlights of the visit was the post op afternoon cup of tea with a Rich Tea biscuit as above. Why they are called Rich Tea I don’t know but after yoghurt and soup it tasted very rich tea to me.

Made originally by the Earl of Stratford I can do no better than paste the Wikipedia entry.

Rich tea is a type of sweet biscuit; the ingredients generally include wheat flour, sugar, vegetable oil and malt extract. Originally called Tea Biscuits, they were developed in the 19th century in Yorkshire, England for the upper classes as a light snack between full-course meals.[1] One of the best-selling biscuits in the British Isles, the biscuit is also popular in Maltaand Cyprus. The plain flavour and consistency of rich tea makes them particularly suitable for dunking in tea and coffee. It is also common to apply spreads such as butter and/or preserves to the back of rich tea biscuits.

Mulling over life from the hospital bed one can really conclude that only the simple things are the best in life and content with little is ultimately happy in much. After my first life operation of serious note I can vouchsafe that health is wealth and there is much to be thankful. Having said all I have about the 84 calorie biscuit I see that they have now brought me a custard cream biscuit with my early dinner but for that I’m definitely going back to the yoghurt. Anyway 499 out of 500 make it and I’m one of them.

Ever grateful. I did recite my favorite psalm 46 verse 10 as I took the anastethic and drifted off in the knowledge that He is in control. Try it when you might need it.
